French actress Karidja Touré may have first caught your attention in 2015 after the U.S. release of the coming-of-age drama “Girlhood.” Now, she’s back for another coming-of-age movie, but this time she’ll be depicting the life of equestrian Selika Lazevski.  Texas high school student Ebony Banks was diagnosed with with a rare form of stage 4 cancer that’s kept her out of the classroom and in the hospital for much of her senior year. To lift her spirits, friends and family launched a social media campaign to fulfill Banks’ biggest wish: meeting her idol, Beyoncé. We exclusively premiered this video from the Dance Theatre of Harlem titled “High Above,” directed by Daniel Schloss and written by Charlie Sohne, which shows the power representation can have in a young person’s life. Black representation in ballet is crucial.
