Gwen Ifill, moderator and managing editor of “Washington Week” and co-anchor of “PBS NewsHour,” has died. She was 61 years old. WETA President and CEO Sharon Percy Rockefeller confirmed the news to staff in a Monday email, saying Ifill died of cancer. “I am very sad to tell you that our dear friend and beloved colleague Gwen Ifill passed away today in hospice care in Washington,” she wrote. “I spent an hour with her this morning and she was resting comfortably, surrounded by loving family and friends.” California Attorney General Kamala Harris urged the country to stay strong as the reality of Donald Trump’s victory set in. Speaking in Los Angeles shortly after her historic election as California’s next U.S. senator, Harris pressed the crowd to keep their heads up in the face of what was unimaginable to many Democrats. “Our ideals are at stake right now, and we all have to fight for who we are,” she said in a speech far more somber than most victory addresses. “I believe this is that moment in time for our country, where we are collectively being required to look in the mirror, and with furrowed brow, we are asking a question: Who are we? In California, I believe the answer is a good one: We are a great country.” Omarosa Manigault has revealed that aligning herself with President-elect Trump has led to the loss of some of her closest friends ― and she doesn’t seem to get why. In an interview on ABC’s “20/20” which aired Nov. 11, Omarosa revealed that many people stopped talking to her because of her support of Trump’s presidential bid. “One of my bridesmaids, a woman who was going to be in my wedding in the spring, [stopped talking to me],” she says in a clip from the interview, above. “I will never forget the people who turned their backs on me when all I was trying to do was help the black community. It’s been so incredibly hard.” Since Donald Trump’s election on Tuesday, many white liberals have expressed shock and disbelief that the candidate, who ran a racist and sexist campaign, actually won. On Nov. 10, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” writer Amber Ruffin had a special message for all of the “white Hillary supporters who are feeling disappointed in their fellow Americans today.” Her message? “Join the fun!” We love feedback!
