Bachelor Ben Higgins Is Running For Office… As A Republican! Posted: 21 Jul 2016 06:59 PM PDT Talk about a plot twist! While planning his wedding with Lauen Bushnell might be at the top of Ben Higgins' "list," it looks like hitting the campaign trail is a close second! On Thursday, we learned that The Bachelor star filed to run for a position in Colorado's House of Representatives in the upcoming general election. Related: Bachelor In Paradise Lands One Of Ben's Castoffs The reality star, who registered as a Republican, is taking on incumbent Dan Pabon, who is serving as the Democratic Representative for the state's fourth district, which includes Northwest Denver. The ABC alum told the Denver Post about his political plans, saying: "I am definitely not a politician, but I have a lot to offer through my years in the financial services industry and, more importantly, my work in charitable and humanitarian organizations." Ben's nomination papers were filed with the Colorado Secretary of State on Friday night, but he has yet to make a public announcement. However, a woman at the Denver County's Republican Headquarters told the newspaper: "As of now, he's building his party platform and figuring out what he wants to do next." By throwing his hat in the ring, Ben prompted small business owner William "Willie" B. Pinkston to withdraw his candidacy earlier this month. Back in May, Willie had told the Post that he would back out of the race if Ben decided to run, saying: "Ben is the only Republican in the district I would step aside for. On Thursday at Comic-Con, producers and stars of the hit MTV show Teen Wolf announced that season six would be their last. Related: Tyler Posey Gets His '90s Nostalgia On! According to showrunner and executive producer Jeff Davis: "Teen Wolf has been an extraordinary journey, one that captured the hearts and imaginations of fans more than we could've ever imagined… We're eternally grateful for the support we've received over these past six years and we're excited to take our brave fans on one last, thrilling adventure." Stars Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Dylan Sprayberry, Cody Christian, and Khylin Rhambo all attended the bittersweet panel in San Diego. The series -- which also featured actors such as Tyler Hoechlin and Colton Haynes -- is the network's longest-running original scripted series of all time. The final season will begin its 20-episode run in November, and will conclude in 2017. These wolves will howl at the moon for the very last time.

NBA Pulls All-Star Game From North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Legislation! Posted: 21 Jul 2016 04:11 PM PDT The NBA has had enough of North Carolina's anti-LGBT bullsh*t! On Thursday, the Association announced that it will NOT be hosting the 2017 All-Star Game at Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena because of the state's controversial bathroom bill. This comes less than a week after NC's lawmakers had a chance to change up HB2 -- which notably forces transgender individuals to use the bathrooms associated with their biological sex, rather than the gender with which they identify -- but instead left the law intact. And now, Commissioner Adam Silver has had enough. In a new statement, the NBA explained that they can't wait any longer for the awful legislation to change, saying: "The NBA has decided to relocate the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte with the hope of rescheduling for 2019. Since March, when North Carolina enacted HB2 and the issue of legal protections for the LGBT community in Charlotte became prominent, the NBA and the Charlotte Hornets have been working diligently to foster constructive dialogue and try to effect positive change. We have been guided in these discussions by the long-standing core values of our league. These include not only diversity, inclusion, fairness and respect for others but also the willingness to listen and consider opposing points of view." The basketball league also explained that the discriminatory bill does not uphold the NBA's values: "Our week-long schedule of All-Star events and activities is intended to be a global celebration of basketball, our league, and the values for which we stand, and to bring together all members of the NBA community -- current and former players, league and team officials, business partners, and fans. While we recognize that the NBA cannot choose the law in every city, state, and country in which we do business, we do not believe we can successfully host our All-Star festivities in Charlotte in the climate created by HB2." But the Association admitted that the Charlotte Hornets have been helpful, and that the state's disgusting law isn't a reflection of the team's beliefs: "We are particularly mindful of the impact of this decision on our fans in North Carolina, who are among the most passionate in our league. It is also important to stress that the City of Charlotte and the Hornets organization have sought to provide an inclusive environment and that the Hornets will continue to ensure that all patrons -- including members of the LGBT community -- feel welcome while attending games and events in their arena." In spite of the current controversy, the NBA seems to hope HB2 will no longer be in effect by 2019, because that's when they're planning to reschedule Charlotte's hosting duties. And, the Hornets, themselves, also issued a statement on the game's relocation, saying: "We understand the NBA's decision and the challenges around holding the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte this season. There was an exhaustive effort from all parties to keep the event in Charlotte, and we are disappointed we were unable to do so. With that said, we are pleased that the NBA opened the door for Charlotte to host All-Star Weekend again as soon as an opportunity was available in 2019. We want to thank the City of Charlotte and the business community for their backing throughout this entire process, starting with the initial bid. We are confident that they will be just as supportive and enthusiastic for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game." The NBA has not yet announced the new location for next year's game, but plans to do so in the coming weeks. In what's just the latest case of Police brutality in America, a 47-year-old black behavioral therapist was shot in North Miami on Monday while trying to protect his mentally challenged patient. As we previously reported, the 23-year-old with autism had wandered away from his group home, but was found playing with a white toy car in the middle of a street by his caretaker Charles Kinsey. Video: Beyoncé, Rihanna, & More Share Powerful #BlackLivesMatter PSA Unfortunately, Police stumbled upon the pair while responding to a call about an armed man threatening to commit suicide, and proceeded to shoot Charles despite his many attempts to resolve the non-issue non-violently, which included him LAYING DOWN ON THE STREET WITH HIS ARMS UP! However, Florida authorities are here to clear this whole mess up... because it turns out they didn't mean to shoot Charles in the leg -- they were actually aiming for his patient instead!!! Now that the story has gained national media attention three days after it actually occurred, the North Miami Police Department FINALLY held a press conference on Thursday where Miami-Dade police union president John Rivera tried to defend the trigger-happy cops, saying: "The one officer discharged his firearm trying to strike the individual that they thought was trying to bring harm onto Mr. Kinsey. This is not a case of police brutality. This is not one of those cases where it's a rogue cop. This is not a case other than an officer who was trying to save the life of Mr. Kinsey and feels horrible that his aim missed and struck Mr. Kinsey." Still the literal definition of police brutality -- but at least he "feels horrible" for almost killing an innocent man... Luckily, Charles' attorney Hilton Napoleon II isn't about to let the authorities get away with their speedy cover-up settlement, saying: "There has been a discussion of a potential settlement. They want to resolve it relatively fast in good faith to let the community know that they take these things seriously, but I'm not at liberty to discuss the terms of the settlement or what we think a potential settlement will be at this point." If they took this seriously... the officer responsible would be facing charges, or at the very least out of a job already.
