Holocaust Survivor And Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel Dead At 87 Posted: 02 Jul 2016 02:57 PM PDT The loss of a true legend and iconic author. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor who also became a Nobel Laureate, has died at the age of 87, according to media reports. Wiesel is best known for his groundbreaking work Night, a book describes the horrors he experienced as a Jewish survivor of the Nazi death camps of the Holocaust during World War II. After he was liberated from those camps at the end of the war as a young man, he went around the world for the rest of his life -- most notable in the United States, France, and Israel -- to speak on behalf of victims of hate and persecution. According to Wiesel's son, the author apparently died at his home in Manhattan. No cause was given. Wiesel's death is a major event in global politics; even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke after his death (below), releasing a statement: "Elie Wiesel, of blessed memory, embodied the determination of the human spirit to overcome the darkest of evils, and survive against all the odds. His life was dedicated to the fight against all hatred, and for the sake of man as created in the image of God — he was a guide for us all." So poignant. RIP. [Image via WENN.]

Watch Star Trek Star Zachary Quinto Pay Tribute To Late Co-Star Anton Yelchin Posted: 02 Jul 2016 01:32 PM PDT This is so touching -- and you can just see his pain. Zachary Quinto went on The Late Show with host Stephen Colbert last night, and before they could go in on Star Trek and everything related to the film, they took a moment to remember the late Anton Yelchin. Related: Star Trek Events Cancelled After Yelchin's Death Of course, Yelchin was killed in a freak accident last month, and Quinto memorialized him in a classy, well-spoken way (above). Clearly, stars are struggling with Yelchin's sudden, unexpected death -- as have fans from around the world.

Thandie Newton Reveals Sexual Abuse By A Director During An Audition Early In Her Career Posted: 02 Jul 2016 11:50 AM PDT This is so horrifying. Actress Thandie Newton revealed in an interview with W Magazine this week that she was sexually harassed and abused as a younger actress during an audition. Related: More Thandie Newton News HERE! The actress shared a story about how a filmmaker (who she refused to name) asked her to do some very inappropriate things -- on camera -- for a callback on a role she was pursuing, saying: "A director, on a callback, had a camera shooting up my skirt and asked me to touch my t*ts and think about the guy making love to me in the scene. I thought, 'Ok, this is a little weird,' but there was a female casting director in the room and I'd done weird stuff before so I did it." Whoa. It didn't end there, though -- and perhaps the scariest part actually came years later. The 43-year-old detailed how she was at a party when, randomly, a drunken producer approached her and said he'd seen her recently. Almost immediately, he ran away looking shocked that he'd said that to her -- and for good reason. Newton had her husband ask the producer what he meant, and it wasn't good: "The director was showing that audition tape to his friends after poker games at his house. And they would all get off on it." UGH!!! Fortunately, though, the Crash actress was able to take something away from it despite the scary story: "I was so, so naive when I started out and I realize now that we have to prepare our kids – I've got two beautiful daughters, one is 16, one is 11. About a month after Cynthia Bailey revealed that she was splitting with her husband of six years, Peter Thomas, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star is speaking out. Speaking at her Cynthia Bailey Eyewear booth at the Essence Music Festival on Friday, Cynthia got real about her motivations for the split, and what she intends to do with her future (below): "I want to take some time for myself. I think the time apart has been good for him as well. It wasn't like I had to do it right this second but the more we got used to not being together and living together, the easier this divorce is going to be. I don't want it to be an ugly divorce because I still love Peter. I just don't want to be married to Peter anymore. It's as simple as that. I still root for him. I want him to win. I still love and support him. We are just not going to be married anymore." Now that's real. Cynthia also noted that the show itself wasn't what drove them apart, making a point that the cameras were not the thing that cut off their relationship (below): "Regardless of if we were on the show or not, our issues would have happened anyways because it's just personalities and it's just chemistry and it's also compatibility. I am really optimistic that in the end, after we take some time, we are going to be friends at the end of this because that was the start." Aww! Video: Cynthia Gives Peter Thomas A 'Happy Ending'! I can't speak for every women on the Earth, but I know what I am able to do and I feel like I have done as much as I can do and still be happy and still respect my husband and still love my husband. I can be a better friend to him at this point in the relationship than I can as his wife."
